01GeneralTHE BASICS
LSIX — the LayerSwitch Internet Exchange (route servers AS49917) — is a carrier-neutral internet exchange established in Amsterdam and anchored at DFDC THG1 in The Hague. The fabric spans 15 data centers across four metros, all interconnected on our own dark fiber. We're IX 1308 on PeeringDB.
An internet exchange point (IX or IXP) is a shared layer-2 platform where network operators exchange traffic between their autonomous systems directly, instead of routing it through paid transit providers.
Peering is the direct exchange of traffic between two networks on the same LAN or interconnect, rather than via the public internet. Traffic peered at LSIX is not billed per bit — which is why it tends to pay for the port quickly.
Any network operator with its own ASN — ISPs, MSPs, CDNs, hosters, enterprises, carriers. Our peering policy is open; route-server peering is encouraged but never required.
At any of 15 data centers: DFDC THG1 in The Hague (the core), Greenhouse DC1–3 in Naaldwijk, Bytesnet and SmartDC in Rotterdam, and nine Amsterdam facilities — NIKHEF plus eight Equinix campuses. The full list is on the locations page.

An Autonomous System Number issued by a Regional Internet Registry such as RIPE NCC or ARIN. That's the whole list.
Fill out the signup form and request a connection. At list price the agreement is month-to-month — no long-term contract, no setup fee. Discounted and promotional ports carry a term.
Registration takes minutes. Once the NOC verifies your application, your LOA is issued in under a minute — walk it to your facility and order the cross-connect. At THG1, cross-connects run in-house and are delivered the same day.
Yes — up- and downgrades at any time with one calendar month's notice. LAGs come at no extra cost, so growing sideways is also an option.
Carriers reselling LSIX ports, DFIP candidates and marketplace sellers are all covered on the partner program page — or just contact us.

10G ports are €75/mo; 100G is €400/mo at THG1 and €500/mo elsewhere; 400G on request. The 10G peering VC is free forever on every port. At THG1 ports up to 100G are free for 36 months; in Amsterdam new ports are free for 12 months. The whole rate card is public.
No setup fees, ever. At list price there's no contract either — month-to-month, cancel with a month's notice. Discounted and promo ports carry a term; that's the trade.
Charges from LSIX are limited to your ports and any paid services on them. Your facility may bill separately for rack space, power and cross-connects — at THG1 cross-connects are in-house and same-day.
10G, 100G and 400G — nothing slower, nothing in between. Link aggregation is available on all ports at no extra cost. Lower speeds are available through LSIX partners.
Monthly, quarterly or annually — your pick. EUR, ex VAT.
Redundant and aggregated ports are priced as the sum of their ports — LAGs carry no premium. For larger footprints across several facilities, talk to sales; multi-port and multi-site arrangements are quoted individually.
Prices are reviewed yearly. Changes are announced at least three months in advance, and services on a term keep their agreed price until that term ends. List-price ports are month-to-month, so there is never a lock-in on either side.

LSIX enforces MAC security on the peering LAN. Send us the new MAC address and we'll reinstate the port. Better still: tell us about planned equipment swaps in advance and there's no interruption at all.
10GE LR, 100GE LR4 and 400GE — all over single-mode fiber. The fabric runs Arista 7280 at every site, with 7060DX4 platforms for 400G.
Member ports accept and forward Ethertypes 0x0800 (IPv4), 0x86DD (IPv6) and 0x0806 (ARP). Everything else — spanning tree, discovery protocols, IGPs — is dropped at the port, which is exactly what keeps a shared LAN quiet.
The route servers — a redundant pair in THG1 and Amsterdam — apply RPKI origin validation and IRR-based prefix filtering, refreshed every 24 hours. For urgent filter updates, mail [email protected].
Port statistics are backed by streaming (gNMI) telemetry from the switches, not five-minute SNMP polls — you see state changes in seconds.
Contact us immediately at [email protected]. For sustained attacks, ask about DDoS protection — RTBH, FlowSpec and scrubbing at the fabric edge.
Peer with the LSIX route servers: RPKI origin validation and IRR filtering catch bogons before they reach you. Then report the sender to [email protected] so we can have a word.
